Canal du Midi

The Canal du Midi, excavated in the 17th century to link the Atlantic and the Mediterranean sea and formerly used for transporting goods and people. It is today an UNESCO World heritage site and very popular with boaters, bikers, walker and tourists.

There are a number of locks between Bram and Castelnaudary with the ultimate 6 locks experience at the entrance to the Bassin in Castelnaudary. It's well worthwhile watching the challenges the many boating tourists face!

The Abbey of Fontfroide

A masterpiece of Cistercian art and a rare work of the 12th and 13th century architecture Fontfroide has been extremely well preserved. A stunning rose garden with well over 3000 rosebushes, a garden with fragrances plants and a restaurant with Mediterannean cuisine waits for your visit! Special events from May-October.

Limoux - City of the Blanquette

Blanquette de Limoux is considered to be the first sparkling white wine produced in France, created in 1531 by Benedictine monks of the Abby Saint-Hilaire. Long before the champagne region became renowned for its Champagne. We love the 'Premiere Bulle' but try the different brands and types for yourself!
